About OBAS®

The Onboard Alert System® is a U.S. patented, multi-function, retroreflective onboard alert system that automatically detects and alerts the presence of children, animals, and important valuables, ensuring they are not accidentally left behind. Invented by Tung "Steve" Pham, the technology strives to prevent and protect families from hot car-related accidents. OBAS® was granted a patent in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2018.

This product has fully transitioned beyond the prototype phase and is now in the final stages of development, although it is not yet ready for mass production.

Features of the Onboard Alert System

OBAS equips your vehicle with multiple features to enhance the safety of you and your family. The standard model provides onboard audible and onboard visual alerting tools that can be programmed and customized to the interior of various automobiles.

Responsive Alert System

OBAS comprises a notification subsystem that works simultaneously with the device's sensors. When occupancy is detected in the seats of the vehicle, a timer is activated, and the system sends a message to at least one telephone number after activation of the notification subsystem and the delay. The technology provides audible and visual cues that work with the vehicles' alarm and light systems.

Innovative Solution

The Onboard Alert System notifies you of important valuables and the presence of children or animals before a car is left unattended. The technology detects the presence of occupants using one or more sensors, each of which emits a signal across a path in the vehicle. Each sensor includes a detector for receiving the signal. If a child enters a car without supervision, the alert system will detect the motion and alert the programmed contacts.

GPS/Comunication Module (Add-on)

The technology strives to expand to features including accident protection.

The GPS/communication module is available as an add-on to the standard model. The add-on allows OBAS to send out text alert messages of your vehicle's GPS location via the cellular telephone communication and location modules. It will automatically dial the programmable phone numbers via two-way communication.

Through his personal experience as a devoted parent and his awareness of numerous hot car fatalities, particularly in high-temperature states like Florida, Texas, and California, Steve was compelled to find a solution to this problem.
